India’s $35 Aakash Tablet Comes Apart

A $35 Indian Aakash tablet may turn out to be a pipe dream after all.

In the most recent twist in the development of the unbelievably cheap piece of tech, the Indian government is trying to break a manufacturing stalemate by taking the decision away from the Indian university that created tablet prototypes.

As we wrote in early November, professors at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Jodhpur, along with students at the institute, created the first models of the device, before handing over manufacturing responsibility to U.K. company DataWind. IIT is designing more advanced affordable prototypes, while concurrently testing the first batch of tablets that DataWind has made.

But over the past weeks, DataWind and IIT have disagreed on the final specs of Aakash 1.

Color Theory Basics

The psychological effects of color are powerful, with the power to change our mental, emotional, and even physical states. And when we add color to our rooms, that effect is amplified. This is an exciting prospect, and it makes choosing colors fun.

When its done right, our experience of the colors we choose is pretty seamless. We dont often notice how effective a color is in a space, because all we experience are the effects which that color has on our senses. We dont often see the color in the strictest sense. In some ways, we feel it instead.

Cycling Again!

In the two months since I posted to this blog Ive moved and done lots of shopping and planning for my new home and garden.  Ill share about that soon enough but for now, I want to write about cycling again after at least 15 years.  My former neighborhood was terrible for cycling hilly and dangerous but my new one is fabulous, with trails and parks and even farmland.  So I took my old bike to a funky local bike shop (now owned by a 50-something woman I bonded with instantly) to get it ready for action again.
